Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions

Last updated: April 2026

Please read these terms carefully before using our service. By placing a booking with Stirling Student Storage you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

1. About us

Stirling Student Storage is a student storage collection and delivery service operating in and around Stirling. When we refer to “we”, “us” or “our” in these terms, we mean Stirling Student Storage. When we refer to “you” or “your”, we mean the customer placing a booking.

2. The service

We provide a door-to-door storage service for students. This includes collecting your items from your term-time address at an agreed date and time, storing them securely over the summer period, and returning them to a delivery address of your choosing at the start of the new academic term.

We do not operate a drop-off or self-storage facility. All collections and deliveries are carried out by our team.

3. Bookings

Bookings must be made online via our website. A booking is only confirmed once payment has been received in full. You will receive a confirmation email with your booking reference and storage labels upon successful payment.

It is your responsibility to ensure that all booking details — including your collection address, contact number, and access notes — are accurate at the time of booking. If any details change before your collection date, please contact us as soon as possible.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any booking at our discretion. In the event that we cancel a booking, a full refund will be issued.

4. Pricing

All prices shown on our website are per item for the full summer storage period and include both collection and delivery. Prices are inclusive of VAT where applicable.

Prices for “other items” not listed on our website will be quoted on a case-by-case basis. We will contact you to confirm the price before collection. If you do not accept the quoted price, you may cancel that item without penalty.

We reserve the right to change our prices at any time. Any price change will not affect bookings that have already been confirmed and paid for.

5. Collections

You must ensure that your items are ready for collection at your booked address during the agreed time slot. Items must be labelled with the storage labels provided — one label per item. We cannot be held responsible for any items that are not labelled or not available for collection at the agreed time.

We collect from the ground floor of your halls of residence or flat only. We do not carry items up or down stairs, lifts, or corridors beyond the ground floor entrance. Please ensure your items are at ground floor level and ready for collection.

If you are unable to be present at collection, you may leave your boxed and labelled items at your halls of residence reception desk, provided you have made arrangements with reception in advance. Please include full details in the access notes when booking.

If we are unable to collect your items due to access issues, items not being at ground floor level, or items not being ready at the agreed time, we may charge an additional fee for a repeat collection visit.

Our boxes, where provided, remain the property of Stirling Student Storage and must be returned to us. Boxes provided by us are intended for storage use only and must not be used for any other purpose. We will contact you after booking to arrange a convenient date to deliver boxes to you ahead of your collection day.

6. Items we will and will not store

We will store most standard student belongings including boxes, suitcases, holdalls, bicycles, and similar items. All items must be securely packed and sealed before collection.

We will not store the following under any circumstances:

  • Cash, credit or debit cards, or financial documents
  • Passports, driving licences, or other identity documents
  • Jewellery, watches, or items of significant monetary or sentimental value
  • Firearms, weapons, or ammunition
  • Illegal substances or items prohibited by law
  • Perishable food or drink
  • Flammable, hazardous, or toxic materials
  • Living plants or animals
  • Items that are excessively heavy (over 20kg per item unless agreed in advance)

We reserve the right to refuse any item at collection if we reasonably believe it falls into one of the above categories or poses a risk to our staff or other customers’ belongings.

7. Storage

Your items will be stored in a secure, dry facility. However, all items are stored entirely at your own risk.

We do not provide any insurance for your belongings. We strongly recommend that you arrange your own contents insurance to cover your items while in our care. Many student contents insurance policies include storage cover — it is your responsibility to check with your insurer and arrange appropriate cover before your collection date. We will not remind you to do this and are not responsible if you fail to arrange cover.

We cannot guarantee against all risks including but not limited to accidental damage, scratches, dents, damp, condensation, pest activity, or any other deterioration that may occur during storage or transit. By placing a booking with us you accept these risks in full.

8. Deliveries

Return deliveries will be made in September at the start of the new academic term. You are responsible for logging into your account and updating your return delivery address before the delivery date. We will send reminder emails, but it remains your responsibility to confirm your address in time.

We deliver to the ground floor of your halls of residence or flat only. We do not carry items up stairs, lifts, or corridors beyond the ground floor entrance. Please ensure someone is available at ground floor level to receive your items.

We will deliver to the address you provide in your account. We cannot be held responsible for failed deliveries due to an incorrect or incomplete address, or because no one was available to accept delivery at ground floor level.

Deliveries outside our standard service area may be subject to an additional charge, which will be confirmed with you in advance.

9. Liability and insurance

We do not provide insurance and we do not accept liability for loss, theft, or damage to any items in our care. All items are stored and transported entirely at your own risk. It is your sole responsibility to arrange adequate insurance cover for your belongings.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we exclude all liability for:

  • Any loss, theft, or damage to your items during collection, storage, or delivery
  • Damage caused by inadequate, insufficient, or improper packing by you
  • Damage to fragile items including glass, mirrors, screens, or ceramics
  • Any deterioration, damp, condensation, mould, or scratching arising during storage
  • Loss or damage to any prohibited item listed in Section 6
  • Loss or damage arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control including but not limited to fire, flood, theft from our premises, or vehicle accidents
  • Any indirect, consequential, or economic losses of any kind

Where liability cannot be excluded by law (for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence), our liability is limited to the minimum extent required by law. In all other cases our maximum liability to you shall not exceed £25 per booking, regardless of the number of items or the nature of any claim.

By placing a booking you confirm that you understand and accept that your items are not insured by us, and that you have been given the opportunity to arrange your own insurance cover.

10. Cancellations and refunds

You may cancel your booking free of charge up to 48 hours before your scheduled collection date. To cancel, please contact us by email with your booking reference.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled collection time will be subject to a cancellation fee of 50% of the total booking value.

Once items have been collected, we are unable to offer a refund for the storage period.

If you wish to retrieve your items before the scheduled return date, please contact us. Early retrieval may be possible subject to availability and may incur an additional charge.

11. Your responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information when making a booking
  • Ensure all items are properly packed, sealed, and labelled before collection
  • Not include any prohibited items as listed in Section 6
  • Update your return delivery address in your account before the delivery date
  • Be available (or ensure access is available) at your collection address during the booked time slot

12. Complaints

If you have a complaint about our service, please contact us by email in the first instance. We aim to respond to all complaints within 5 working days and to resolve them within 14 working days.

13. Governing law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.

14. Changes to these terms

We reserve the right to update these terms and conditions at any time. The current version will always be published on our website. Continued use of our service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
